Get Ink Essentials vs Pro: Which Tattoo Booking System for Solo Artists

Get Ink·Tuesday 30th June 2026

One of the reasons we launched Get Ink Essentials was to make sure every tattoo artist had something really simple available to help manage parts of the inevitable tattoo admin.

The other reason is (totally transparency from a tech company - shock!) it doesn't cost us much to offer a real stripped down version of the app. We're a small business too, and without sounding too cringey we've always wanted to change the game in tattoo tech by supporting tattoo artists in their businesses.

Essentials is one way we can help. It's built by tattoo lovers for tattoo artists. A real support team (actual humans, not AI chatbots). It's used by tattoo artists worldwide.

Tattoo apprentices and junior artists who are in the early stages of their careers have been using Get Ink Essentials to showcase their work, display availability and take enquiries - perfect to just get going.

Other artists that still want to use DMs, emails and bank transfers have also been loving using the Get Ink tattoo enquiry form to collect any new ideas in one place.

Shall we tell you what it actually is and if it'll work for you and your clients? And also when might be the time to upgrade to Get Ink Pro.

Get Ink Essentials: What's Included (Free)

Essentials is your profile page and booking link that lives in your Instagram bio (or wherever else clients find you). Clients click it because they want a tattoo by you! 🙏🏻

They land on your profile and find everything they need to know about you - your style, where the studio is, your availability, flash designs, price guides and FAQs.

Artists profile pages are customisable to have as much or as little information as you need. Have a nose at some of the tattoo artists using Get Ink.

If they're ready to send an enquiry, a client can fill out a form with all the details you actually need about them and their tattoo (size, placement, reference photo, their budget etc). You get all that info in one place to review in the Get Ink app and respond to them as you do now - via email or a DM.

That's it for Get Ink Essentials - a form that says “Hey client, tell me about your tattoo” and you get one organised place to contact them.

Quick recap

What Get Ink Essentials solves:

  • ✅ You have a professional booking link instead of “just DM me”
  • ✅ Clients give you the info upfront. No “what size did you want?” ping pong
  • ✅ You have a record of every enquiry sent in one place
  • ✅ Your artist profile page works 24/7 giving clients info and the ability to enquire

What Essentials doesn't do:

  • ❌ Collect deposits or payments (you handle those how you do today)
  • ❌ Send automated reminders (so you're not getting chased)
  • ❌ Have in-app chat (you reply via DM or email like you do now)
  • ❌ Give you a digital consent form (you manage that separately)

Get Ink Pro: What Changes (£29/month)

Tattoo artists using Get Ink Pro usually need a bit more help with booking clients in and streamlining all the admin that comes with it. It solves a few problems you've definitely had before!

Clients enquire… and actually book a tattoo

Essentials gives you the form, Pro gives you everything after to seal the deal. You're not left wondering “are they actually serious or just time wasting”.

Generally the clients that are serious about booking, fill in a form. It filters out those who aren't or need a bit more time to make a big decision. You can concentrate your time and efforts on the ones actually paying.

Once the enquiry hits, you can review what the client is requesting and offer multiple appointment slots and the deposit amount, all on your terms. Your client gets a personal link in an email and text message. They choose what date and time works for them and can pay easily with card, Apple pay & Google pay. You can even offer finance options like Klarna and Afterpay if you want to. It takes minutes - they get a confirmation, it gets added into your calendar and you can message happily to each other in the app away from DMs.

Some smart philosopher said something like: “If it's easy, it's more likely to happen”. Any friction and us human beings are more likely to f right off. We know tattoo artists have bills to pay and fun life stuff to do. Let's just make more tattoos. Everyone's happy.

You can have a look at some Get Ink Artists profile pages to get a feel for it from a client perspective.

No More Chasing. No More DMs. No More Ghosting.

All that time messaging, praying for a response and using up the head space is gone.

  • You don't chase deposits as they pay when they book
  • You don't chase payment confirmations (it's automatic)
  • You can see whether a client has viewed your offer and give them an extra nudge to confirm and pay.
  • You don't send reminders before the appointment, the app does it for you.

Dreamy, right?! Use all that saved time on something else.

Admin Takes Minutes, Not Hours

We know artists that have reduced their admin days to an 'admin hour' and family members have commented on how they get their favourite person away from their phone and can make plans in the evenings.

All those quick checks and writing out the same thing adds up. Here are some things in the app that help with that:

  • Personal profile with FAQs, price guide, flash book and availability shown.
  • All enquiries in one place (not scattered across DMs, email, WhatsApp)
  • One click to send appointment multiple dates + payment link
  • Reminders go out automatically
  • The Get Ink calendar syncs with Google Calendar
  • Everything's organised and searchable - no more scrambling for reference photos or losing client details.

It also doesn't take ages to set up and we guide you through from your first enquiry - Try for free here

Fewer No Shows

Clients that pay a deposit are generally more committed as they have something to lose. We mentioned up there that that's all easier to collect so jobs a good 'un.

When they confirm their appointment in the app they are sent a personal link with everything they need to know - obviously when and where so they can add into their own online calendars but also information about the studio and prep before their tattoo.

Get Ink client booking page

We automatically send an email and text message reminding clients 4 days before their appointment so no more 'I forgot'. You can customise what you need to tell them too 🙌

Other Good Stuff

  • Digital consent forms - Put Jotform in the bin. We know how important it is to have the proper documentation for your clients. Digital, traceable and kept with all your other client info.
  • Broadcast emails - Send custom messages to select clients. Fill that last-min cancellation OR send a special offer to your regulars.
  • Payment instalments - Let clients spread the cost of their tattoo with services like Klarna and Clearpay
  • Messages - Like DMs just without the random people contacting you. Clients can only message after you have offered them an appointment - no more spam!
  • Integrated calendar - Your full schedule laid out to keep you on track. Sync with google cal so you don't miss your Nan's birthday.
  • Studio Owner? Streamline your tattoo studio by bringing everything in one place. Get Ink works perfectly with studios of any size and artists can use Get Ink as individuals. You can see what's going on and allocate enquiries to the right artist.

So... When Should You Actually Upgrade?

Honest answer: When the tattoo admin makes you want to do this…

Frustrated reaction gif

From our Trustpilot reviews, people are saying they upgrade when they were:

  • ✅ Tired of chasing clients for info
  • ✅ Fed up of managing DMs
  • ✅ Had a no-show and tired of worrying about them
  • ✅ Wanted clients to actually commit with a deposit
  • ✅ Desperate for their evenings back
  • ✅ Getting 5+ enquiries a week and couldn't keep up with the admin
  • ✅ Just wanted everything organised in one place

If this is you, Get Ink Pro pays for itself in one prevented no-show.

FAQ: Essentials vs Pro

Can I upgrade from Essentials to Pro anytime?

Yep! Upgrade anytime, no lock-in. You only pay for the months you use Pro.

Is there a contract?

Nope. Simple monthly subscription. Cancel anytime, though we hope you won't 😊

Can I downgrade after trying Pro?

Absolutely. Try Pro free for 14 days. If it's not for you, go back to Essentials (still free).

Does Pro work for studios?

Yes! Pro works for solo artists. For studios managing multiple artists, we have Pro Studio (£54.40/month for 2+ artists). It includes shared calendars, enquiry assigning and studio profile pages.

Why is Pro £29/month?

One prevented no-show at £400 pays for your entire year of Pro. We price it to pay for itself. Plus, support from us, automatic reminders, deposit processing, and digital consent forms all cost us to run.

Are there additional costs for payment processing?

We use Stripe to collect payments from your clients. They charge a small fee for this service when clients pay via card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Klarna. Check our pricing page for exact fees. If you prefer bank transfers instead, you can still manually add payments to the system - it just takes a bit more admin time on your end.
