Where are you located, and what are your hours?

I am located at Harmony Tattoo in Knoxville, TN. The address is 5415 Kingston Pike, Knoxville TN 37919.

Hours of operation are Tuesday-Saturday from 12pm to 8pm.

*** Please note, if you are using Google Maps to navigate here, you may get turned around. For some reason it takes you around the back of the building to another location. Some landmarks to look out for are: Wild Honey Record Shop, Planet Vapor, and Archer’s BBQ (which is now Pastelito’s Cuban Bakery but they haven’t updated the signage yet) ***

Question 2

What is your pricing like?

Overall, my pricing reflects a formula of $150 per hour.

Full day rate (~7.5hrs & lunch break) - $1000 - $200 deposit required.
Half day rate (~4hrs) - $500 - $100 deposit required.

My minimum is $100, and that generally applies to any smaller tattoos that will take me under an hour to complete. A $50 deposit is required.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes and no.

I highly, HIGHLY prefer appointments above all else. I’m not usually in the shop if I don’t have any appointments for the day, so I cannot guarantee I will be present to take a walk-in.

Question 4

What forms of payment do you accept?

Accepted Answer

CASH IS PREFERRED! Zelle is second best.

I will take CashApp or Venmo if necessary but I’m very cautious about those platforms.

I do not have a card reader or a POS system in place, but hopefully soon I will!

At this time I am not offering any kind of pay later service, either (Afterpay, Affirm, Klarna, etc). My best advice would be to book your appointment out a few weeks or months, and put your cash in a safe location every other week! Old school style :)

Question 5

Do I need to leave a deposit?

Yes, I require a deposit to book an appointment. It is non-refundable and goes towards the final price of the tattoo. This deposit pays me for my time drawing a design, my set up, and covers me if the client no call no shows. We are also humans with bills, families, and lives who like to eat and sleep in our own beds! Please be courteous of our time as we are with yours 🖤

What’s your style?

I would consider myself in the realm of blackwork and illustrative realism. I really enjoy working with imagery that could be considered mystical, ethereal, magical, fantasy-like, horror-esque, and gothic. I typically work with a style of shading called stippling or pepper shading, as opposed to smooth greywash shading, so my tattoos look more like pencil and pen drawings as opposed to hyper-realism.

My favorite kinds of tattoos to do, and what I would like to do more of:

Illustrative realism portraits (MUST have a high-quality reference photo)
Illustrative realism animal-portrait hybrids (ex., my Ozzy Osbourne portrait with bat wings emerging from his head)
Illustrative realism mixed with blackwork (ex., the tattoo I did of two realistic female vampires inside of a blackwork/illustrative style handmirror)
Dark, feminine floral
Blackwork with elements of chrome
Chrome tattoos
Chaotic blackwork
Anything Halloween, horror, or occult themed

Styles I am open to trying:

Neo-traditional (color or black and grey)
American traditional (I started out tattooing traditional and am experienced with it, just fell away from it--I'm not opposed to doing more)
Kawaii style and anime tattoos
Japanese traditional

What don’t you tattoo?

Styles I do not feel comfortable with are as follows:

Question 8

Do you offer/allow the use of numbing cream?

Accepted Answer

No. I don’t carry numbing cream and I am highly, highly against using it. If I find out you’ve treated your skin with numbing cream before your tattoo I will reschedule you.

The best I can offer at this time is Bactine spray. It is the only thing I trust.

Most numbing creams do not come from reputable sellers/sources and can contain ingredients that can cause all kinds of problems and reactions. I’d rather you leave with a cool tattoo, not in an ambulance. :) 
Numbing cream also typically alters the texture of your skin, which makes it harder to tattoo you and can negatively affect your healing.

Question 9

Do you do cover-up tattoos?

Generally, no. BUT, it depends on the cover-up.

If the tattoo is small and/or faded, we can certainly talk about your options. If the tattoo is large and/or too dark, you may need to consider a few sessions of laser before a cover-up is possible.

Cover-ups can be tricky. The main goal is to camoflouge and distract rather than actually cover. And, typically, the cover-up will need to be around 2-3x larger than the original tattoo. Piling pigment on top of pigment will do realistically nothing in the long run, so it's best to work with the original tattoo instead of against it.

Question 10

Can you rework my old tattoo?

Similar to coverups, it will depend on the tattoo.

If the tattoo is faded, it will be easier for me to rework the foundation and build up from there.

If the lines are bold, shaky, poorly done, blown out, etc— I will probably recommend doing laser first, or we will have to do an in-person consultation and have a more realistic talk about expectations and outcomes.

I don’t mind finishing or touching up other artists work—you obviously have your reasons for not going back to them, or you would have already. You are trusting me to help and I greatly appreciate that! But, we can’t always work miracles.
