Can I send AI references?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, AI creates images of tattoos that are not actually tattooable, creating unrealistic expectations for you as the client of what’s possible. 
AI does not understand how tattoos heal, how details age over time, how ink settles in the skin, or what will still look good in 10+ years.

When I create a tattoo, I consider the movement and anatomy of the body, the placement, the skin texture, longevity of the tattoo and the readability of the design. AI cannot do this.

The part of my job that I enjoy the most is turning your design idea into a reality, and using AI for that completely removes one of the most fun, creative and artistic parts of my job from me.

Instead, you can send me:
- a written description of what you would like
- inspiration photos (can be artwork, paintings, statues, something you saw in real life, anything that you feel is an inspiration for the design.)
- an idea, concept or feeling
- Pinterest boards/ mood boards of real images 
- a rough drawing you made (even if you think it’s absolutely awful, it will be very helpful for me to get an insight into your vision!)

How long until I hear back from you?

Accepted Answer

This depends on how busy I am at any given time. I will always aim to respond within a few days of receiving your enquiry, however at my busiest times, please allow for a week.

Question 3

Will I be able to get my deposit back?

Accepted Answer

Deposits are non-refundable and are in place to protect my livelihood. A deposit supports the time I spend outside of the studio preparing for your appointment.

If you wish to reschedule your appointment - you can carry over the deposit to your new appointment, as long as you let me know a week before the initial scheduled appointment.

I’ll always try to be as understanding as I can in special circumstances.

Can I use numbing cream?

Question 5

My tattoo needs a retouch, what do I do?

Accepted Answer

After waiting for your tattoo to fully heal, please get in touch with me if you believe it needs retouching. Send me over a photo or two and we can arrange a retouch if necessary. There may be a small fee to cover the use of the studios materials.

Question 6

Can I make changes to the design?

Accepted Answer

100%! Obviously I aim to get it as right as possible for you on the first attempt. However, I am totally open to changing it for you if it needs some tweaking. This is possible on the day of the appointment, with you in front of me, as most of the time it’s much easier to talk these things through in-person. 
If you have changed your idea completely and it requires a complete overhaul, there will be charges for my time spent designing.

Question 7

Will aftercare be discussed?

Yes, we will go through your aftercare together in-person, once I have finished your tattoo. You are free to ask me any questions, and if necessary I can also provide you with a written sheet of aftercare information.
Feel free to message me if you need to ask any questions about aftercare, or have any worries about your tattoo at all.

Question 8

Can I bring anyone to my appointment with me?

Usually, I do not allow guests or plus ones to your tattoo appointment. 
However, if you have certain circumstances that require you to bring someone, please discuss this with me prior to your appointment and I can make the necessary arrangements for you to have a guest where possible.

Question 9

What should I bring to my appointment?

Accepted Answer

Please eat properly the morning of, and the night before your appointment. 
I ALWAYS recommend snacks, lunch, and a drink or two. 
Keeping your blood sugar up and your body fuelled is very important while you are being tattooed.
There are many shops near both the studios I work at, should you need to pop out to buy supplies. Both studios either have a toilet inside, or very nearby should you need to use it.
It’s important to bring some clothing that allows me to easily access the area of your body that I will be tattooing. 
I usually recommend bringing headphones, a portable charger, or some form of entertainment for yourself (especially if we are tattooing for a full day!) Whether it be a book to read, downloading some films on your phone, or just zoning out with your music on.
We will have plenty of breaks to refuel and stretch our legs throughout our session.

Question 10

I am feeling unwell before or during my appointment, what do I do?

Accepted Answer

If you are feeling unwell a few days before your appointment, please contact me to reschedule. If you give me 48 hours notice, I am able to transfer your deposit to the new date. If you give me any less notice, unfortunately your deposit will be lost as I am unable to rebook someone else at such short notice.

If you are feeling unwell during your appointment, please let me know and we can take the necessary breaks so you are able to feel well again. 
If you are very unwell, and I cannot safely continue to tattoo you, your appointment will not continue and we will reschedule and complete your tattoo at a later date.
