How can I prepare for my tattoo?

Accepted Answer

In the week leading up to your tattoo please moisturise your skin, particularly where you’ll be getting tattooed - please avoid this on the day of your tattoo though!
On the day of your tattoo please ensure you have a good breakfast/lunch (depending on when your appt is!), drink and bring plenty of water and feel free to bring snacks and/or a sugary drink.
There is a co op nearby the studio if you needed to grab anything during!

Question 2

Does getting a tattoo hurt?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Honestly, every tattoo hurts, how much they hurt is entirely subjective and something you won’t know until it happens. Different areas of the body can hurt more or less than others and this can differ from person to person.
Don’t ever let the fear of pain stop you from getting a tattoo or getting it in a particular place, a tattoo is for life and there are ways we can help to manage the pain. 
Lots of people say it wasn’t as painful as they thought it would be!

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Please wear comfortable clothing and consider the area you’re getting tattooed! If I’m tattooing your leg, consider wearing or bringing shorts. If I’m tattooing your back wear an open back top, or bring a cardigan/button up shirt to wear backwards. 
I’ll do my best to make sure not to get any ink on your clothes but take this into consideration when making your outfit choices, I am only human, my clothes are covered in ink! 🤭

Can I use numbing cream?

Accepted Answer

I would prefer if you didn’t use numbing cream, there are many reasons for this, the main one being; it alters the tattooing process in various ways and can affect the overall quality. 
If you would like to use it you must inform me prior to your appt. 
Please do a patch test 24 hours before the tattoo, every single time you choose to use it - reactions can develop at any time.
I will also not offer a free touch up for tattoos where numbing cream was used, imperfect healing is a known complication - a risk you accept by using it.

Can I bring a friend?

Unfortunately our studio space isn’t big enough to accommodate plus ones to appointments. We do have a small waiting area for guests, I do ask that you only bring one person maximum and they are welcome to wait here. However, if the space is needed for other clients they may be asked to leave, there are some local cafes to grab a coffee!

Can I have a break?

Accepted Answer

Yes of course! If you need a break for any reason don’t hesitate to ask. For longer sessions we can break for food mid way through the appt and at any other point for bathroom breaks or if you need a breather.

How do I look after my tattoo?

Accepted Answer

I’ll go through all the aftercare I recommend at the end of your appt. The studio stocks recommended aftercare so it’s easy and convenient if you don’t already have anything!

Is there anything you won’t tattoo?

Accepted Answer

I won’t tattoo anything hateful - though this is probably obvious!
I will tattoo anything I feel confident that I can execute well. If I don’t feel like I’m the right artist for your idea I will make some recommendations for artists I think would be a great fit for you!
90% of the time I won’t tattoo fingers, I just don’t enjoy tattooing them.

Question 9

How do I get to the studio?

Accepted Answer

If you’re driving there is a free long stay car park located round the back of the studio which can be accessed from Forton Road just a few doors down. There are also multiple bus routes that link from Fareham and the ferry from Portsmouth that have stops in walking distance from the studio too!
