🛁 How can I prep for my tattoo appointment?

I would advise to exfoliate the area being tattooed for the 1-2 weeks beforehand a couple of times & please make sure you are moisturising it after exfoliation. Don't wear body lotion the day of your tattoo as this can cause the stencil to rub off quicker. Please also do not use fake tan for a week prior to your appointment.

Please ensure you have eaten breakfast and I recommend bringing some extra food and sugary drinks with you for your session. (My personal preference when getting tattooed is something small that I can constantly just eat away at ie. m&ms, haribos, grapes, strawberries etc…)

When tattooing I tend to go a little quiet and not talk too much as I’m concentrating on giving you the best tattoo ever so please feel free to bring headphones or anything else you feel would help pass the time (iPads, books, sketchbooks, puzzle books, Nintendo switches are all great options). Getting a tattoo is the ultimate self care in my opinion so take the time for yourself and chill out during your appointment.

Finally, make sure to change your bed sheets the day of your new tattoo so that they are fresh when you get in them that night. Bed sheets contain dead skin cells, pet dander, sweat & all kinds of other things that can cause a whole load of problems if they get into your tattoo.

👚 What should I wear to my appointment?

Accepted Answer

Please wear either black or a neutral colour to your appointment if possible, it makes it alot easier to take photos of your tattoo as nothing will detract attention from the finished piece.

Shoulder- bandeau top or a top that you can comfortably take down one strap.

Arm- a normal vest top, no cap sleeves if upper arm is being tattooed

Hip/Thigh- tie bikini bottoms or super stretch underwear so they can be moved out of the area to prevent cross contamination. A high slit skirt is also great.

Shin/Calf- floaty loose trousers that can be rolled up, shorts, skirt, nothing tight as lower legs can swell and you don’t want to not be able to roll back down what you’re wearing.
PLEASE wear socks, I do not like feet haha!

Back/Torso- a zip of hoodie or button up shirt that can be worn backwards to give access to full back or left open to give access to front of torso. Feel free to bring nipple covers if we are working on the sternum area.

If you’re travelling to me during colder months, you can change once you’re at the studio.

⏰ What time should I arrived to my appointment?

Please note that morning appointments are 10:30am.

Please come to your appointment on time, I would very kindly ask you to not come any earlier than 10:30am as I'll be enjoying my morning tea, which is very important.

Please come to your appointment on your own, although if you have any issues or special requirements regarding this just send me a wee message ahead of your appointment.

🚗 Is there parking nearby?

There is limited parking available on side streets, we are based in a VERY busy university area so please allow plenty of time to get parked. Although I strongly recommend getting a lift or public transport because of how difficult parking is! If you are travelling by bus you can get the 9 metro and it will drop you off and pick you up right outside. City Hospital train station is a 6 minute walk. Botanic train station is also only an 8 minute walk.

🎒What should I bring with me to my appointment?

Please bring some sugary food/drink with you. (See “how to prep for my tattoo appointment” FAQ above!

If you intend on watching any shows on your phone etc, please bring headphones as this can be super distracting for myself & other artists working near us or in the room.

You’re welcome to bring a blanket if you’re concerned you may get chilly, aswell as fluffy socks or even a hot water bottle!

Question 6

✏️ When will I see my design?

Accepted Answer

I create all of my design for the week ahead on the Sunday/Monday before your appointment and will usually send over a very rough sketch of my idea on this day. 
If you approve of the sketch then I will create the final design and get that sent over to you before your appointment date for you to give final approval. 
If there are any changes needing to be made that is absolutely no problem! Just let me know ahead of time rather than on the day.
Sizing will be finalised during your appointment.

Question 7

👯‍♀️ Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Please come to your appointment on your own, the studio can get very busy at times & not accommodate extra people.

Although if you have any issues or special requirements regarding this just send me a wee message ahead of your appointment.

Question 8

😷 What do I do if I am sick up to a week before my appointment?

Accepted Answer

Please let me know as soon as possible!

The cost of a client being sick and coming in and spreading it to myself, is me not only myself losing out on that days wages when I have to send you away, but me then having to reschedule X amount of clients while I’m sick, then working double time to squeeze them back in asap. We also have people into our studio who have immunocompromised relatives and so we want to keep everyone safe.

If you let me know 48 hours or less before your appointment, you will sadly lose your deposit as it’s very hard to fill cancellations at the moment.

Aside from the deposit, being tattooed while you’re not well is just a terrible idea in terms of what your body & immune system is going through. It will delay you getting better as your body is now having to focus on this new thing that’s attacking it & you’ll feel awful. It’s really not worth it so please just let me know if you’re fearful you won’t be able to make it to your appointment due to sickness.

🧴 Can I use numbing cream?

Accepted Answer

NO, please be aware that I will not tattoo anyone who has applied numbing cream to the area. This is due to how numbing creams can affect the healing process and the body's ability to cope with getting tattooed, there are also other associated risks with these types of creams if incorrectly applied. If you arrive at your appointment with numbing cream on, there is a risk of your tattoo being rescheduled with loss of deposit.
