Who can get tattooed?

I welcome anyone who is over 18 and able to prove so. I will not tattoo you if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, drunk, rude or aggressive to either myself or the team I work with.

Question 3

How much does a tattoo cost?

This is a difficult question to answer as it entirely depends on what you’re after and whereabouts on your body it’s going.
My minimum charge is £70 and my day rate is £500. I can get a lot done in one day so you definitely get your moneys worth!

For other pieces I charge per piece, this is due to how quick I am and I also find it creates more transparency with your appointment as you know what you’re paying upfront.

I am always happy to work with budgets, let me know what you can realistically afford and 9 times out of 10, I will always agree and design you a tattoo that works with your budget.

Question 4

Do I need to pay a deposit before my tattoo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, to secure your appointment, I require all clients to pay a non-refundable deposit which is deducted from the final tattoo amount.
This ensures my time is protected and covers the time I spend drawing up for your tattoo if you’re getting a custom piece.

If you cancel your appointment, give me less than 48 notice to reschedule or no show me, your deposit is forfeited and you will be required to send another one to book in again.

Can I see my design before the appointment?

It is common practice for tattoo artists to wait until the day of your appointment to show you your design.

I also follow this practice and find it works better for my workflow. I have a busy schedule and find I often don’t have time to draw too far in advance for people’s drawings. I usually start drawing for your appointment the night before.
Any changes you may want to make can be done when you arrive, there’s always time included to allow this, I also understand changes better when sitting one on one with my clients and discussing them together.

Can I use numbing cream?

Of course! Please be aware that not all numbing creams are genuine and there are a lot of fakes out there. If your unsure on what it is you’re buying please reach out and I can always advise.

Do you offer coverups?

Accepted Answer

Yes! I assess them on a case by case basis and will always be transparent on what can or can’t be done.

You may be advised to consider laser.

Coverups require some compromise and not all styles can be done for coverups.

Question 8

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Accepted Answer

In the weeks building up to your appointment, drink plenty of water and eat well. Moisturise your skin everyday and exfoliate a few times a week. This will make your skin easier to tattoo which will make your appointment easier.
Avoid getting the area sunburnt and don’t do any excessive workouts the day before/day of the appointment.

Make sure you have a big breakfast if you’re booked in the for the morning or a big lunch if you have an afternoon booking. If you’re booked in for the whole day, I recommend bringing lunch and snacks.

Make sure to get a good nights sleep the night before and don’t drink alcohol.

Wear appropriate clothing to your appointment that makes the area getting tattooed easily accessible.

How long does a tattoo take to heal?

This depends on what we’ve done. Factors such as size, location and complexity all have a role to play in how long your healing will take.

Most tattoos take between 7-14 days to heal. After the first few days the initial discomfort and redness start to ease. Around this time you may experience some itching and scabbing. This is completely normal. You should avoid picking or scratching your tattoo as this can lead to colour loss and uneven healing.
 
You should avoid swimming, baths and exposure to the sun for the first 14 days. It’s ok to shower and is something I encourage as you should be keeping your tattoo clean.

After getting tattooed you will receive a breakdown of the aftercare instructions.

Question 10

Can I donate blood after getting tattooed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the UK the NHS advises that you must wait four months after the date of your tattoo before giving blood.
