How can I best prepare for my appointment?

During the lead up to your appointment I’d encourage you to use a body lotion on and around the area which the tattoo will be, at the very least the week before and leading up to. Something like a Nivea Express Hydration. This will make a huge difference in terms of how easy it’ll be to tattoo your skin and in turn make a big difference in how well the tattoo will heal, ultimately we’ll achieve the best results by following this process. Aftercare instructions I’ll take you through on the day. Please don’t try to shave or prep the area for me, although I do appreciate the effort, I’d rather you not turn up for your appointment looking like you’ve had a close call with a butchers slab. Believe me this does happen. Leave all of that to me it’s part of the service. Make sure you’ve had something to eat beforehand, we stock sugary drinks at the studio and have a vending machine also, so we’ve got you covered there. Try and get a decent nights sleep as that’ll make things easier for you, especially if you’re in for a longer session.

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive no earlier than 5-10 minutes before or bang on time, and I should be set up and ready for you. You’ll have to fill in a quick consent form then we’re ready to go.

Hey, I’m Calix

I’m a black and grey artist located in Exeter in the southwest of the UK. I pretty much cover most styles in black and grey, from people/animal portraits big or small. Delicate to heavy black work and larger scale projects. My preferred styles are Chicana/Payassa girls, Day of the dead and Script work/Lettering. However I enjoy Japanese and Traditional work too and I will do colour within those two styles.

I’m fairly gentle when I tattoo, as I feel it’s beneficial for the client on the day and the healing of the tattoo afterwards to not put you through unnecessary pain. I’m easy to get on with and I’ll usually have some stand-up comedy on the t.v to take your mind off of what’s happening. (Probably not ideal, but I know where all the punchlines are. So you’re in safe hands).
