Openmind - Shaun Horlock

I’m Shaun, Bournemouth-based tattoo artist currently in my 12th year of tattooing, specialising in custom fantasy illustration.

My work focuses on large-scale pieces, ornamental compositions, and mythic imagery. All designs are drawn from scratch and, in some way, stem from a fantasy world I’m building called Gyranth, allowing each tattoo to feel part of a wider, evolving narrative. While Gyranth forms the core of my work, I’m also happy to consider existing fantasy franchises when they’re reimagined fully in my style.

I’m best suited for clients looking for thoughtful, long-term projects rather than quick, trend-based designs. You don’t need a fully formed idea to enquire — a theme, fantasy based imagery such as elves or creatures, or loose direction is more than enough, and I’ll help guide the process from there.
